Who We Are
Public Counsel’s Consumer Law Project represents consumers who have fallen prey to a variety of scams, through community clinics, direct representation and advocacy.
The Consumer Law Project (CLP) assists with a wide variety of consumer matters. Persons may be eligible for CLP’s services if they have a legal issue related to:
– Fraud or unfair business practices in some type of transaction
– Debt collection, including creditor harassment, default judgments, and wrongful wage garnishment or bank levies
– Foreclosure
– Real estate fraud
– For-profit schools
– Financial abuse of an elder or a disabled person
– Identity theft related to the items listed above
– Hospital patient dumping
– Student loan debt discharges
