The Self-Help Legal Access Center provides informational assistance to self-represented litigants in the following types of civil cases: Unlawful Detainer, Collection, Guardianship and Conservatorship, Civil Harassment Restraining Order, Name Change, Step-Parent Adoption and Expungements of misdemeanors and infractions only. The Self-Help Center does NOT assist with all types of civil cases. Specifically, the Self-Help Center does NOT assist litigants with initiating civil law suits, small claims cases, criminal matters, probate decedent estates and trust issues, and appeals and writs.

Self-Help Center staff can help you with selecting and completing the appropriate forms and providing you with general legal information and information regarding the status of your case. Self-Help Center staff does not represent you in court, does not provide legal advice and cannot assist you if you are currently be represented by an attorney. Communications between you and the Self-Help Center staff are NOT confidential. You will be helped on a “first-come first-served” basis. As Spanish interpreters cannot be guaranteed, those in need of an interpreter should provide their own as well as someone who can help them to complete the forms in English.
